Quality by Design and TRIUM join forces
Together, the life sciences consultancy firms create a unique end-to-end offering for the life cycle of medical products and therapies
Quality by Design (QbD), the reference in consultancy for the life sciences industry, and TRIUM Clinical Consulting (TRIUM) have joined forces. The partnership results in a unique, complementary service offering for the entire life cycle of a medical product or therapy. It is giant leap forward for QbD and TRIUM: not only does it help them both to continue their growth momentum, it’s also a very logical step in the expansion of their service offerings. For QbD in particular, it is a crucial step in its ambitious #QbDream in terms of its overall growth strategy and the development of its expertise in medical devices and ATMPs.
The invention of a new therapy or technology is always the start of an extensive product life cycle process, before it can go to market. With the addition of TRIUM to the QbD Group, QbD now has an end-to-end offering throughout the entire ‘from idea to patient’ life cycle, whether it’s setting up quality systems, obtaining ISO certifications, or any other aspect.
Quality, safety and effectiveness
QbD’s growth has soared since its foundation in 2011. Today, it employs 200 people, 142 of whom work in Belgium. Along the way, QbD broadened and specialised its playing field, especially relating to its two focal points: medical devices and ATMPs. Bart Van Acker, founder and CEO of QbD: “Particularly when it comes to more complex medical devices, ensuring their quality, safety and efficiency is an extremely difficult task. It’s also a field in which QbD and TRIUM have both specialised for years. Moreover, European law states that each developed medical device requires thorough clinical testing. Now that TRIUM has joined the QbD Group, we can execute that entire process for clients. Trium is also the ideal clinical partner for similar ATMP related (cell therapy & gene therapy) projects, and a very valuable addition to our partnership ecosystem.
QbD and TRIUM previously worked together on a number of client projects. Christof Debèfve, co-founder and responsible for business development at TRIUM: “This means we know what to expect from each other and we’re very glad that this new chapter will allow us to work together much more often and much more closely. In addition to the tremendous complementarity of our services – together, we really are one of a kind in our market – QbD’s also is the perfect DNA match. Just like us, they have a real ‘yes we can’ mentality while having fun as well.”
Although Quality by Design is now the majority shareholder of TRIUM, the latter stays as independent as possible and nothing will change for its team. The TRIUM office in Lier for example, will remain. “This partnership is all about a win-win, not only for both parties involved, but even more so for the industry we work in”, Debèfve stresses. “Moreover, teaming up with QbD – the Belgian and soon even the international reference in its field – will provide many project and career opportunities for our team of approximately hundred employees.”
Van Acker: “The same goes for our own people, so I share Christophe’s enthusiasm on all levels. Besides the history we have together, TRIUM is also a renowned player in its niche market. Our international QbD office network will help it grow faster than ever.”
