Saturday, September 14: the day we’ve all been waiting for – the start of our annual QbD weekend! This year, we decided to stay in Belgium for our teambuilding.
9 am: We arrive at Basecamp in La Roche, where we’re welcomed with coffee, fresh fruit and croissants. We also receive a pair of customized QbD sunglasses because the weather is so nice. A great start of the day!
9.30 am: We’re all expected at the ‘Trappershut’ for a short presentation by the QbD Management to keep us up-to-date on the latest evolutions in the company. An hour later, the activities can start! We’re divided into teams of 8 to 9 people for some fun challenges, like playing the djembe, rafting, a fire brigade test, laser shooting, Via Ferrata and last but not least, a death ride.
We’re pretty hungry after such an exciting morning, so we we’re pleasantly surprised to see a delicious, varied Italian lunch on the table!
5:30 pm: Once all challenges are completed, it’s time to head to the hotel. After a 30 minute drive, we get installed in our rooms and get ready for the big Tex Mex party! At 7:30 pm, we all head downstairs, dressed in TexMex costumes of course! When we get there, we see an amazing QbD Western village with a shooting booth and rodeo bull. It looks super cool!!! We have our first cocktail and take a group picture. After that, it’s time to gather around the dinner table (with hay bales as seats) for a heavenly Tex Mex barbecue!
After dinner, we go back inside for the award ceremony. The team that won the challenges gets duo tickets to go to the movies. Afterwards, the real QbD Queen & King Western are elected!
Only a few minutes later, someone suddenly switches off all the lights and we notice some guys standing still on the stage. Everyone is silent, because we’re wondering what’s coming next. The people on stage start singing and playing music, and everyone is dancing and singing along in no time. The band Rewind Fast Forward has created a super fun atmosphere.
After the concert, a deejay completes the party. It’s been an unforgettable night!
The next morning, between 9 and 11 am, we’re treated to the ‘last breakfast’. Everyone is in a super positive mood, because of the fantastic time they had yesterday. Afterwards, some of us take off for a 10 km trail run in the Houffalize area.
And then the time has come to check out and head home.
It’s definitely been one of the best editions in the history of QbD. One that will leave a smile on our face for a very long time!
