Knowledge for Growth 2016: the cream of the life sciences industry
Where do you get the chance to meet over 1,100 high-level life sciences actors from industry academia and government, all in one place? At Knowledge for Growth 2016! On Thursday 26 May, an enthusiastic delegation of QbD attended the 12th edition of Europe’s premier life sciences conference, organized by FlandersBio. And their enthusiasm was even greater upon their return.
Themed ‘Novel Solutions for Health & Food’, Knowledge for Growth 2016 was once again jam-packed with captivating lectures and panel discussions. After the opening – where our own Bart van Acker was present as a new member of the FlandersBio board – attendees were all ears for the various inspiring plenary talks. Brieuc van Damme, deputy chief of staff of Belgium’s Minister of Public health and Social affairs, talked about Belgium’s future pact for the patient with the pharmaceutical industry, and the opportunities for the biotech sector. Rudi Pauwels (Biocartis) discussed molecular diagnostics and how to bridge the gap between the patient and precision medicine. And Hanno Cappon (Nutricia Medical Nutrition) examined the subject of medical nutrition to support brain health and memory for Alzheimer’s patients.
Besides these and various other inspiring plenary talks, attendees of Knowledge for Growth 2016 were given the chance to visit keynote lectures on the latest subjects in life sciences, like pediatric clinical trials, validating ICT technologies and innovating drug discovery. And during four hands-on workshops, they were put to work on analytical services, IP, smart data and multi-stakeholder innovation.
As a silver sponsor of Knowledge for Growth, QbD had a beautiful stand right in the middle of the event. There we caught up with current clients – like Alcon and Biocartis – and entered into (potential) new deals with interesting laboratories and clients in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry. Because the event was linked to a job fair, we also met a lot of motivated students and candidates interested in working at QbD. After an inspiring event, we had some drinks with our esteemed clients. In the end, the QbD team members went home satisfied. Knowledge for Growth: see you next year!
