Microsoft Dynamics and the lifecycle
After the system is validated for use it must stay validated. Microsoft Dynamics solutions will require regular updates. Therefore, it is critical to have a systematic approach in order to remain compliant in GxP environments, in which QbD’s expertise lies.
Microsoft Dynamics uses the programme Lifecycle Service (LCS) to update systems[¹]. Based on Dynamics 365 Business Central, the customer is notified two to three months in advance when a major update is planned. Typically, major updates take place twice a year[²]. A major update can be postponed with a maximum of 30 days before deploying in the live environment. It’s possible to first deploy an update in a so-called sandbox environment, for test and validation purposes. Minor updates will be pushed on a set date and time and cannot be postponed[³].
